The Chicago Blackhawks announced Thursday that they have signed unrestricted free-agent winger Patrick Kane to a two-year, $16 million contract.
The emotional reunion carries an average annual value (AAV) of $8.0 million and includes a full no-movement clause, bringing the 37-year-old three-time Stanley Cup champion back to the city where he spent the first 16 years of his legendary career.

Kane returns to the city he called home for well over 15 seasons, having spent the past three years with the Detroit Red Wings after a short stint with the New York Rangers in the late stages of the 2022-23 campaign.
During the 2025-26 campaign in Detroit, the American superstar tallied 57 points (16 goals, 41 assists) in 67 games. Earlier this year, he cemented his legacy further by surpassing Mike Modano for the most NHL points by a United States-born player.
Kane drove Chicago to three Stanley Cups in six years in the early 2010s, ending the franchise’s 49-year championship drought in 2010. With the Hawks, he reached the 100-point mark twice, doing so in 2015-16 and 2018-19, posting career highs in goals (44), assists (66) and points (110) in the latter.
Widely regarded as one of the best players in franchise history, Kane ranks third all-time in games played (1,161) and goals (446), and second in assists (779) and points (1,225). He won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 2007-08, the Art Ross and Hart Trophy, as well as the Ted Lindsay Award in 2015-16, and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2013.
