The Dallas Stars have locked down their franchise cornerstone for the upcoming season, but the clock is already ticking on his long-term future.
On Tuesday, General Manager Jim Nill announced that the club has signed superstar winger Jason Robertson to a one-year, $12 million contract.

Robertson is a restricted free agent after the conclusion of his four-year contract with a $7.75 million cap hit. He was eligible for an arbitration hearing, which he had elected, with the hearing scheduled for Saturday, July 25th.
Some teams had reportedly tried to acquire Robertson and sign him to a larger contract, most notably the Seattle Kraken with their rumoured $15 million offer, but Robertson turned down the contract offer. The St. Louis Blues also had an offer on the table for Robertson, but he also chose not to sign there.
Instead, Robertson bet on himself. Coming off a dominant 2025-26 campaign where he paced the team with 96 points (45 goals, 51 assists) and hit the 40-goal mark for the third time in his career.
