Philadelphia Flyers Sign Trevor Zegras to Four-Year Contract Extension (featured)

The Philadelphia Flyers have officially locked down one of the most dynamic pieces of their young core. On Wednesday, General Manager Daniel Briere announced that the club has signed restricted free-agent forward Trevor Zegras to a four-year, $36.5 million contract extension, successfully avoiding a scheduled salary arbitration hearing.

Zegras will cost the Flyers $9.125 million against the salary cap and will be an unrestricted free agent upon the expiry of the contract.

He registered NHL career highs in both goals (26) and points (67) across 81 regular-season games, finishing second in team scoring. He continued to produce in the postseason, adding six points in 10 playoff games before the Flyers were eliminated in the second round by the Carolina Hurricanes.

“We're thrilled to have Trevor committed to our organization for the next four years,” said General Manager Daniel Briere. “The growth he showed this past season, proving that he is the skilled player he entered the league as, reinforced our belief that he will be an impact player for the Flyers for the years to come. He's the type of player who can help take our team to the next level, and we're excited to continue building alongside him."
