On Tuesday afternoon, Ottawa Senators General Manager Steve Staios announced that the club has officially re-signed veteran forward Claude Giroux to a one-year contract extension.
The deal has a cap hit of $2 million, with $3 million in potential performance bonuses, as well as a full no-move clause.
Giroux will receive $1.5 million if he plays 10 games during the 2026-27 season, $500,000 if he appears in 40 games, and $500,000 each if Ottawa advances to the Eastern Conference Final and Stanley Cup Final.

This past season, Giroux scored 14 goals and 35 assists for 49 points in 82 games. It marked the first time since the 2009-10 campaign that he failed to reach the 50-point mark in a full 82-game season.
In 1,345 regular-season games in the NHL, the Hearst, Ont. native has potted 379 goals and 786 assists for 1,165 points, with another 86 points in 105 playoff contests.
