The Montreal Canadiens have secured their long-term future between the pipes. On Wednesday afternoon, General Manager Kent Hughes announced the club has signed 25-year-old goaltender Jakub Dobes to a three-year contract extension.

The deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $5.36 million, totaling $16.07 million. The extension rewards the young netminder for a sensational breakout season and solidifies his position as the undisputed anchor of Montreal's rapidly ascending young core.

Dobes is coming off of a roller coaster of a regular season, as he started the seasons slow before finding his game in the second half of the season and securing the starting role for the Canadiens with a 29-10-4 record, .901 save percentage and 22.94 5v5 goals saved above expected in 43 games.

Dobes true breakout was in the 2026 playoffs, where he backstopped the Canadiens to the Eastern Conference Final with a 9-6-4 record, a .908 SV%, and a playoff-leading 11.9 5v5 GSAx in 19 games.
