On Wednesday afternoon, the Washington Capitals announced they have signed veteran center and long-time Columbus Blue Jackets captain Boone Jenner to a four-year, $23 million contract.
The deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $5.75 million and runs through the 2029-30 NHL season.

The 33-year-old forward has spent his entire 13-year NHL career with the Columbus Blue Jackets after being selected by the franchise in the second round of the 2011 draft.
Jenner served as the undisputed heartbeat of the Blue Jackets, wearing the captain's "C" for the past five seasons. During his tenure in Columbus, he logged 801 regular-season games, climbing to near the top of almost every major statistical category in franchise history.
The 6’2″ center collected 13 goals and 38 points in 67 games with the Blue Jackets in the 2025-26 season.
