Nurse scored seven goals and recorded 17 assists for 24 points with 104 penalty minutes, averaging 20:58 of ice time in 82 regular-season games in 2025-26. He also averaged 23:08 in six playoff games last spring.
The 6-foot-4, 221-pound defender led the Oilers in both hits and blocked shots, regularly eating up incredibly difficult top-pair minutes. By picking up his full $9.25 million average annual value (AAV) for the next four seasons, the Sharks are paying a massive premium.
In addition to the cap relief, the Oilers secure a highly intriguing young asset in Shakir Mukhamadullin. The 24-year-old, 6-foot-4 blueliner played 50 NHL games for San Jose last season, registering 12 points. The Oilers also add Zack Sharp, a 2025 fourth-round pick out of Western Michigan University who projects as a puck-moving defensive prospect
