Shea, 29, collected six goals and 35 points while averaging 18:53 of ice time in 80 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the 2025-26 regular season.
The signing comes directly on the heels of Edmonton's blockbuster trade earlier in the day, which saw them clear immense financial tracking by moving Darnell Nurse’s entire $9.25 million cap hit to the San Jose Sharks
The Chicago Blackhawks originally selected Shea in the fourth round (No. 121 overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft. The Milton, Mass. product spent his developmental years with the USHL’s Youngstown Phantoms before heading to Northeastern University, where he played from 2016 to 2020.
Through 150 career NHL games over parts of three seasons in Pittsburgh, Shea has collected nine goals and 41 points.
