The Utah Mammoth have officially locked down their newly acquired goaltender of the future. The club announced Monday afternoon that they have signed restricted free agent (RFA) netminder Sebastian Cossa to a two-year, $4 million contract extension.
The deal, which runs through the 2027-28 NHL season, carries an average annual value (AAV) of $2.00 million.

Cossa is expected to split duties with veteran netminder Karel Vejmelka, giving the 23-year-old a stable environment to ease into full-time NHL action without the overwhelming pressure of carrying a starter's workload on day one.
Standing at a massive 6-foot-6 and weighing 215 pounds, Cossa brings elite physical tools and exceptional athletic coverage to Salt Lake City. The former 15th overall pick in the 2021 draft is coming off a spectacular breakout season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he posted a .921 save percentage and a 2.24 goals-against average. His combination of size, quick cross-crease lateral movement, and refined technical positioning makes him one of the most highly touted goaltending prospects.
Utah aggressively targeted Cossa, executing a deal with the Detroit Red Wings to acquire his signing rights in exchange for the 23rd overall selection in the 2026 NHL Draft.
