After spending five developmental seasons playing in the KHL, Gritsyuk finally made the jump to North America for the 2025-26 campaign and he did not disappoint. The 6-foot, 195-pound forward proved he belonged in the NHL immediately, registering 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 66 games during his rookie season.
Originally selected in the fifth round (129th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Gritsyuk alternated between the top and bottom six throughout his rookie year. Moving forward, however, he projects as a full-time, top-six fixture. His elite speed and high hockey IQ make him an ideal long-term complementary winger for either Jack Hughes or Nico Hischier.
The Devils have already made a few moves this summer in addition to extending Gritsyuk, as they’ve also dealt Simon Nemec and Jakob Markstrom, with New Jersey getting Evan Rodrigues and Jepser Boqvist in the latter deal.
