General Manager John Chayka has officially made his first major splash since taking the helm in Toronto.
On Tuesday morning, the Maple Leafs announced they have dealt goaltender Joseph Woll and defenseman Simon Benoit to the Philadelphia Flyers. In return, Toronto acquires goaltender Samuel Ersson, Emil Andrae, and a 2026 third-round draft pick.

Andrae tallied two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in 61 games with the Flyers in 2025-26, averaging 15:20 of ice time. In parts of three NHL seasons, the Vastervik, Sweden, native has three goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 107 career games. Ersson, 26, posted a 14-11-5 record with an .870 save percentage (SV%) and a minus-16.5 goals saved above expected (GSAx) in 2025-26.
Woll appeared in 39 NHL games in 2025-26, posting a 15-16-7 record with an .899 SV% and a minus-6.6 GSAx. He’s recorded a 63-43-9 record in parts of five NHL seasons, with a .906 SV% and 2.93 GAA.
Benoit had six assists and 41 penalty minutes in 73 games with the Leafs in 2025-26. In six NHL seasons with Toronto and the Anaheim Ducks, the Laval, Que., native has six goals and 30 assists for 36 points and 240 penalty minutes in 352 regular-season games.
