On Sunday night, the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 at T-Mobile Arena, closing out a hard-fought series to clinch the 2026 Stanley Cup.
The victory secures the second championship in franchise history and the team's first since 2006.

The story of the deciding game was rookie goaltender Brandon Bussi. Making just his third start of the playoffs, Bussi delivered a flawless 22-save performance to earn his first career playoff shutout. By doing so, he became the first rookie goaltender to post a shutout in a Cup-clinching game since Earl Robertson in 1937.
Offensively, the Hurricanes relied on their scorching second line to put Vegas away. Veteran Taylor Hall opened the scoring just 3:47 into the first period on a breakaway, before rookie standout Jackson Blake doubled the lead in the second frame. Nikolaj Ehlers punctuated the historic victory with an empty-net goal in the dying minutes of the third period.
In all, Carolina put forth one of the most dominating efforts in postseason history, going 16-3, marking the fewest losses by a Stanley Cup winner since the Wayne Gretzky-led Edmonton Oilers in 1988.
Captain Jordan Staal was named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner, becoming the oldest player to take home the honor at age 37. He became the first player in 70 years to score goals in five straight games in the final, and ended up posting eight goals and 12 points in the playoffs.
The Hurricanes came away victorious in one of the more entertaining finals in some time. The teams combined for 42 goals in the six-game series, with Carolina outscoring Vegas 24-18.
