On Thursday, the Seattle Kraken officially announced the hiring of Patrik Allvin as Vice President and Assistant General Manager.
Allvin, 51, steps into the Kraken organization just months after parting ways with the Vancouver Canucks. He served as Vancouver's general manager for over two years before being relieved of his duties in April 2026.

βPatrik is an excellent communicator in a team environment,β said Kraken general manager Jason Botterill. βHe understands the importance of structure and a process in making decisions. You look at his experience evaluating talent in North America, Europe, amateur, pro, heβs had a lot of different titles over his career. He had success in Pittsburgh, winning three Stanley Cups, being a part of a group there [which included Botterill]
"I liked everything I heard from Jason about the good people in the organization,β said Allvin during a Wednesday night phone call after crossing the border into the U.S. βThe practice facility is phenomenal, best in the league. The support of the Kraken in the city and region was evident every time I've been down there for games. As a visiting team, you can feel the fansβ energy and feel the identity of the team playing fast hockey.β
The move to Seattle represents a significant reunion for Allvin and Kraken GM Jason Botterill. The two executives have a long, successful history of working together. They spent several years collaborating in the Pittsburgh Penguins' front office, where Allvin steadily climbed the ranks from European scout to Director of Amateur Scouting. During their shared tenure in Pittsburgh, the duo helped construct the foundation of a roster that became a perennial Stanley Cup contender.
