On Friday morning, the Philadelphia Flyers announced the club has agreed to terms with goaltender Aleksei Kolosov on a one-year contract extension.

Kolosov, 24, is viewed as a critical piece of the Flyers' goaltending future. The Belarusian netminder has spent the last few seasons adjusting to the North American game, splitting time between the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms and the NHL roster. Known for his elite lateral quickness and explosive athleticism, Kolosov has shown flashes of brilliance that suggest he is ready for a permanent jump to the highest level.

A third-round pick by the Flyers at No. 78 overall in the 2021 NHL Draft, Kolosov is a six-foot-one, 185-pound netminder who appeared in four games at the NHL level this season, posting a .830 save percentage and 4.00 goals against average.

For his NHL career, Kolosov sports a 5-11-1 record with a 3.64 GAA and .863 SV%, and he has yet to record his first career shutout.

Prior to coming to North America, Kolosov spent parts of four seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with his hometown team, Dinamo Minsk. He appeared in 120 regular-season games, posting a 49-56-10 record.
