On Tuesday morning, the Columbus Blue Jackets announced it has agreed to terms with center Charlie Coyle on a six-year contract extension worth $6 million AAV.

“Charlie made a tremendous impact on and off the ice for us last season and keeping him in Columbus was a priority,” said Waddell. “He is the definition of a true pro, and a durable, reliable, productive right-shot center whose leadership, character and consistency are extremely valuable in this league.  We are thrilled that he will continue to be a very important part of the Columbus Blue Jackets for years to come.”

During the 2025-26 season, Coyle scored 20 goals and recorded a career-high 38 assists for 58 points, ranking fourth on Columbus in goals and points. He tied his single-season career high in assists and power play goals, posted the second-most points and scored 20 or more goals for the third time in his career.

Across 14 NHL seasons, Coyle has established himself as one of the league's most reliable two-way forwards. He recently surpassed the 1,000-game milestone and has amassed 543 career points (209 goals, 334 assists) in 1,032 regular-season contests. Coyle has appeared in 126 career Stanley Cup Playoff games, recording 53 points. His postseason resume is highlighted by a dominant run during the Boston Bruins' 2019 trip to the Stanley Cup Final, where he tallied nine goals and 16 points in 24 games.

Coyle was originally selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks. Before turning pro, he spent two seasons at Boston University before joining the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL.
