It was a night of "Road Warrior" performances as the visitors swept the board.
Buffalo Sabres 3, Boston Bruins 1
Buffalo Leads Series 2-1
The Sabres took their high-speed transition game into TD Garden and silenced the Boston faithful with a 3-1 victory. Bowen Byram found the back of the net in the second, before Alex Tuch and Noah Ostlund added insurance markers in the third. The Bruins struggled to beat Alex Lyon, who stopped 24 of 25 shots.
Carolina Hurricanes 2, Ottawa Senators 1
Carolina Leads Series 3-0
The Hurricanes have moved within one win of the second round, stifling the Senators 2-1 at the Canadian Tire Centre. Logan Stankoven continued his incredible post-season with a first-period goal, and Jackson Blake netted the eventual winner. Frederik Andersen was steady with 21saves, pushing Ottawa to the brink of a sweep. Near the halfway mark of the second period, defenseman Jake Sanderson blocked a shot with his left hand. Later in the shift, the 23-year-old took a high hit from Taylor Hall. He didn’t return for the remainder of the game, with head coach Travis Green later citing the initial hit from Hall as the reason for Sanderson’s exit.
Colorado Avalanche 4, Los Angeles Kings 2
Colorado Leads Series 3-0
The Avalanche took their Presdients Trophy offense to Hollywood and left the Kings on life support. Captain Gabriel Landeskog opened the scoring for the Avs. The Kings would break through in the second when Quinton Byfield's shot was redirected by Trevor Moore for his first goal of the postseason. A seeing-eye shot from Cale Makar put Colorado in the lead for the second time. Arturri Lehkonen and Brock Nelson added the insurance markers, putting the Kings on the brink of elimination.
