As Frank Seravalli is reporting, sources indicate that Evan Gold (Assistant GM, Boston Bruins) and Ryan Martin (Assistant GM, New York Rangers) are two of the high-level executives advancing to the final stage of the Toronto Maple Leafs general manager search.
The news comes as MLSE President Keith Pelley looks to conclude an "exhaustive" process that included over 10 Zoom interviews last week. The organization is reportedly on track to name a successor to Brad Treliving as early as Friday.

There is likely a third (or more?) candidate to meet with the team for a second in-person interview this week.
Gold, a Toronto native and University of Toronto alum, is widely regarded as one of the league's premier contract negotiators. Currently serving as Boston’s Assistant GM and the GM of the AHL’s Providence Bruins, Gold has spent over a decade in the Bruins' front office.
Meanwhille, Martin brings a championship pedigree to the table, having spent 16 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings (including the 2008 Stanley Cup run) before joining the Rangers in 2021, where he currently serves as Assistant GM and GM of the Hartford Wolf Pack.
While Gold and Martin are the names gaining the most traction, a third finalist, and potentially more, is expected to meet with the team in Toronto this week. Speculation remains high around former Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis. Other names interviewed include John Chayka, Ryan Bowness and Brandon Pridham.
