Montgomery’s signing comes just days after he helped lead the University of Wisconsin Badgers to their first National Championship appearance since 2010. In 38 games, he scored nine goals and eight assists for 17 points.
Since being drafted by Ottawa in the fourth round (117th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft, he has played in four different leagues across two seasons, transitioning from the USHL’s Lincoln Stars to the OHL’s London Knights, and finally to the NCAA. Montgomery was a vital component of the London Knights' 2025 Memorial Cup championship team. During his lone OHL season, he notched 50 points in 51 games, using his reach and physical edge to dominate in high-traffic areas.
