On Sunday night against the New York Islanders, captain Nick Suzuki tapped in a pass from Juraj Slafkovský at 15:16 of the second period to record his 100th point of the season, becoming the first Hab to reach the milestone in four decades since Mats Naslund did so in 1985-86. Just 28 seconds after his 100th point, he recorded an assist on Ivan Demidov’s power-play goal to move to 101 points on the year.

Suzuki joins an exclusive fraternity of Montreal icons, becoming just the fifth player in the franchise's 116-year history to record a 100-point campaign. The other three Habs to reach the 100-point mark are Guy Lafleur, Peter Mahovlich and Steve Shutt. Lafleur did it six times while Mahovlich did it twice.
Prior to Sunday's game, Suzuki had played in seven NHL seasons, scoring 166 goals and 308 assists for 474 points in 535 career regular-season games. He scored a career-high 33 goals in 2023-24 and has reached career highs in assists and points in 2025-26. Suzuki was taken No. 13 overall by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and was traded to the Habs in September 2018, along with Tomas Tatar and a second-round pick, in exchange for Max Paciorety.
Before Suzuki made his NHL debut, he spent parts of four seasons in the OHL with the Owen Sound Attack and Guelph Storm, where he posted three 90-point campaigns and a 100-point season in 2017-18. Suzuki led Guelph to an OHL championship in 2019, tallying 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points in 24 games, and was awarded the Wayne Gretzky 99 Award as playoff MVP.
The Canadiens sit at 106 points following tonight’s win, and they remain just two points back of the Buffalo Sabres for the top seed in the division.
