The Utah Mammoth have made history, clinching their first-ever Stanley Cup Playoff berth on Thursday night with a 4-1 victory over the Nashville Predators.

By securing their spot, Utah becomes the third team in the last 45 years to qualify for the postseason within its first two years of operation—joining the Vegas Golden Knights (2017-18) and Seattle Kraken (2022-23). This will be the first playoff appearance for the Mammoth/Coyotes franchise since 2020.

The clinch was finalized late in the evening when the Anaheim Ducks defeated the San Jose Sharks, mathematically eliminating the remaining challengers for Utah’s Wild Card spot.

With four games remaining in the regular season, the Mammoth currently sit in the first Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Depending on the final week of play, Utah could face a first-round matchup against the Pacific Division champion Vancouver Canucks or a rematch with the Central Division-leading Colorado Avalanche.

Forward Clayton Keller now in his ninth full-time season with the team going back to its days as the Arizona Coyotes. Keller leads Utah with 80 points through 77 games, while forwards Nick Schmaltz and Dylan Guenther have had career years to give the Mammoth a solid group of top-end forwards.
