Detroit Red Wings forward Patrick Kane made history on Thursday night officially becoming the highest-scoring American player in NHL history.

The 37-year-old reached the milestone recording three points (1G, 2A) to lead the Red Wings to a crucial 4–2 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers.

With the performance, Kane reached 1,393 career points, moving past Hall of Famer Brett Hull (1,391) for the all-time lead among players representing the United States.

Kane matched Hull’s 1,391 points with an assist on an Alex DeBrincat goal earlier in the game. At 9:37 of the third period, Kane fired home the eventual game-winning goal off a pass from Andrew Copp to take sole possession of the top spot. He added a second assist later in the frame to finish the night two points clear of Hull. Kane has now conquered both major American scoring records in the 2025–26 season. In January, he surpassed Mike Modano (1,374) for the most points by a U.S.-born player; with Thursday's feat.

The 5’10” winger has collected 14 goals and 50 points in 60 games with the Red Wings this season. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft, Kane spent the first 16 seasons of his career with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013, and 2015. He also played 19 games with the New York Rangers in the 2022-23 season.
