The Philadelphia Flyers announced Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms with defenseman David Jiricek on a two-year contract extension.
The deal carries an average annual value (AAV) of $1.5 million and keeps the 22-year-old blueliner in Philadelphia through the 2027–28 season. Jiricek was set to become a restricted free agent (RFA) this summer following the conclusion of his three-year entry-level contract.

On March 6, 2026, Philadelphia acquired Jiricek from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for forward Bobby Brink. Since joining the organization, Jiricek has been playing for the AHL’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms, where he has thrived. In just 10 games, he has recorded two goals and 10 points,
Jiricek has appeared in 84 career NHL games across three organizations (Columbus, Minnesota, and Philadelphia), totaling 13 points.
A native of Czechia, he famously led his country to a silver medal at the 2023 World Junior Championship, where he was named the tournament's Best Defenseman
