The Anaheim Ducks announced Wednesday that the club has signed center Roger McQueen to an Amateur Tryout Agreement (ATO) with the San Diego Gulls, the team’s AHL affiliate.

“It is exciting to welcome Roger to our organization to play professional hockey after a strong freshman season at Providence,” said Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek. “Roger will gain valuable experience playing additional games in San Diego, which will be an important step in his development.”

McQueen spent the 2025-26 season in the NCAA with Providence College, where he was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Year and to the conference’s All-Rookie Team after tallying 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points with a +5 rating and 45 penalty minutes (PIM) in 36 games. Among Providence leaders, he ranked second in assists, was third in points and tied for third in goals. He also ranked eighth nationally among rookies with 313 faceoff wins.

The Saskatchewan native was selected 10th overall by Anaheim in the 2025 NHL Draft. McQueen scored 35 goals and 51 assists for 86 points and 116 PIM in 127 career Western Hockey League (WHL) games with the Brandon Wheat Kings from 2022-25.

Internationally, he helped Canada win gold medals at the 2024 U-18 World Championship and 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He also represented his country at the 2022 World U-17 Hockey Challenge, leading Canada with 8 points in six contests while serving as an alternate captain.
