Vancouver Canucks forward Evander Kane reached a major career milestone on Monday night, becoming the 424th player in NHL history to play in 1,000 regular-season games.

The 34-year-old celebrated the achievement in style, scoring the opening goal of the game in a 4–2 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights at Rogers Arena.

A Vancouver native, he became just the ninth player in franchise history to appear in his 1,000th career game while playing for the team, joining legends such as Trevor Linden, Markus Naslund, and Henrik and Daniel Sedin. Through 1,000 games, Kane has recorded 339 goals and 309 assists for 648 points, along with 1,276 penalty minutes.

He is the 16th player to reach the 1,000-game plateau during the 2025–26 season, joining a veteran class that includes Mika Zibanejad and Adam Larsson.

Reaching 1,000 games in the NHL is an incredible accomplishment," Kane said following the game. "I'm proud to have spent my entire career... and to be able to celebrate this milestone with our fans". Kane’s path to the millennial mark has spanned 17 seasons and five different NHL organizations. Drafted 4th overall in 2009, Kane made the Atlanta Thrashers roster as an 18-year-old straight out of his first training camp. After six seasons in Atlanta/Winnipeg, Kane was dealt to the Buffalo Sabres in 2015. After almost two seasons in Buffalo, Kane was on the move again as he was traded to the San Jose Sharks in February 2018. Following a few seasons in San Jose, Kane joined the Edmonton Oilers in 2022, before being dealt to the Canucks in the summer of 2025.
