Lundgren, a 23-year-old from Ängelholm, Sweden, joins the Bruins organization following a historic sophomore campaign at Merrimack College. Lundgren etched his name into Warriors lore by backstopping the program to its first-ever Hockey East playoff championship this month. In 39 games, he posted a 21-16-2 record, a 2.55 GAA, and a .920 save percentage. He also led the entire NCAA in total saves this season with 1,134.
Lundgren went undrafted following his lone season in the USHL as a member of the Des Moines Buccaneers, where he posted a .913 SV% and 2.65 GAA across 41 outings.
“I was surprised Lundgren wasn’t selected out of the USHL in 2023, but he has followed that up with two solid seasons at Merrimack. At 6-foot-5, he has the size teams crave," said Daily Faceoff's Steven Ellis."He was also routinely busy – he has faced 30 or more shots in well over half of his starts. Teams like goaltenders who can handle volume, and he often was one of the best players in Merrimack’s lineup any given night. The Swedish-born goaltender (with Finnish national team experience) could serve himself well by shedding a bit of weight to get quicker. But he tracks shots well and doesn’t allow many cross-crease opportunities.”
