The Detroit Red Wings announced Wednesday that they have signed Jacob Bernard-Docker to a two-year, $1.6 million AAV contract extension.

Bernard-Docker was slated to become a restricted free agent (RFA) this summer upon the conclusion of the one-year "prove it" deal he signed in July 2025.

Bernard-Docker has tallied four points, all assists in 55 games this season while carving out a dependable role on the blueline.

Originally a 26th overall pick by Ottawa in 2018, Bernard-Docker arrived in Detroit after being non-tendered by Buffalo last summer. Bernard-Docker appeared in parts of five seasons with the Senators to begin his career, setting career highs in games played (74), goals (4), assists (10), and points (14) with the club in the 2023-24 season.

He has settled in as a steady defensive partner for Albert Johansson, with the duo posting a 51.0% expected goals-for percentage (xG%) at even strength.

Through 199 career NHL games over parts of six seasons with the Senators, Sabres, and Red Wings, Bernard-Docker has collected six goals and 28 points. He has yet to make his Stanley Cup Playoff debut.
