Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov made NHL history on Tuesday night, recording his 80th assist of the season in a 6–3 victory over the Minnesota Wild.

By reaching the 80-assist plateau for the fourth consecutive season, Kucherov surpassed Hall of Famers Bobby Orr and Paul Coffey for the second-longest such streak in league history. He now trails only Wayne Gretzky, who holds the record with 13 consecutive 80-assist seasons.

The milestone assist also helped Kucherov reclaim a narrow lead in the league’s scoring race as the regular season enters its final three weeks. Kucherov currently has 120 points on the season and leads Connor McDavid (118 points) and Nathan MacKinnon (115 points). This marks Kucherov’s fourth career 120-point season, joining an elite group of just eight players in NHL history to reach that mark four times.

Since November 22, 2025, he has recorded 95 points in 45 games, the highest total by any player in such a span since Mario Lemieux in 1995–96. He currently leads the NHL in assists per game (1.21) and primary assists per game (0.71).
