With the Ottawa Senators losing defensemen Thomas Chabot and Lassi Thomson to injuries in Monday's game versus the New York Rangers, the Senators have recalled Carter Yakemchuk and Jorian Donnovan. Both players are set to make their NHL debuts on Tuesday versus the Detroit Red Wings.

Yakemchuk was selected 7th overall in 2024, he was the first pick of the Steve Staios era. In his first pro season, he has recorded 36 points (10G, 26A) in 50 games, ranking 10th among all AHL defensemen in scoring. He arrives in Detroit riding a wave of momentum, having tallied 11 points in his last nine AHL games.

Donovan’s debut is a sentimental milestone for the franchise, as he and his father, Shean Donovan, are set to become the first father-son duo to ever play for the Senators.

Donovan is a fifth-round pick in 2022. He is in his second full AHL season, and he has posted a career-high 21 points (4G, 17A) in 58 games. Donovan is a proven winner, having captured an OHL championship in 2022 and the Memorial Cup in 2024 with the Saginaw Spirit.
