The NHL Department of Player Safety has scheduled a phone hearing for Florida Panthers forward A.J. Greer on Sunday, March 22, 2026, following a dangerous boarding incident involving Calgary Flames forward Connor Zary.

The play occurred during the third period of the Flames' 4-1 victory on Friday night.

With approximately nine minutes remaining in the game, Greer shoved Zary from behind, sending him tumbling face-first into the boards. Greer was assessed a five-minute major for boarding and a game misconduct. He was also called for a minor penalty for hooking at the start of the sequence, which initially caused Zary to lose his balance.

Because the hearing is being conducted over the phone, the maximum suspension Greer can receive is five games. Greer was suspended in March 2023 for cross-checking, but he currently falls outside the 18-month window to be designated as a "repeat offender".

Zary was seen standing up and walking around the locker room with an icepack wrapped around his neck after the game. The Flames have yet to release any more info on his condition or when he’d be able to return to action.
