The Sabres pivoted to this deal after St. Louis Blues defenseman Colton Parayko reportedly used his no-trade clause to block a move to Buffalo earlier on Thursday.
Standing 6-foot-7, Stanley is having a massive breakout year. He has shattered his previous offensive totals with 9 goals and 21 points in 59 games while averaging a career-high 17:12 of ice time. Schenn brings a championship pedigree from his time with Tampa Bay. He leads the league in hits by a defenseman (over 3,700 career) and is expected to stabilize Buffalo's third pair during their push to end a 14-year playoff drought.
The Jets originally selected Stanley in the first round (No. 18 overall) of the 2016 NHL Draft. The Waterloo, Ont. product has appeared in 261 career NHL games over parts of six seasons with the Jets, collecting 14 goals and 57 points; he’s added two goals and four points in 17 playoff contests. Schenn first joined the Jets at the 2025 trade deadline and skated in 11 playoff games with the club that year. A first-round pick (No. 5 overall) of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Draft, Schenn has collected 45 goals and 212 points in 1,118 career games
