The Colorado Avalanche have officially reunited with 2022 Stanley Cup champion Nazem Kadri, acquiring the veteran center from the Calgary Flames.
The deal was finalized more than an hour after the 3:00 PM ET deadline, with Kadri calling the delay an "absolute sweat".
The Flames agreed to retain 20% ($1.4 million) of Kadri’s $7 million salary to facilitate the reunion.
A 2027 fourth-round pick is also headed to Colorado, with forwards Max Curran and Victor Olofsson, as well as a 2028 first-round pick and a second-rounder in 2027 going to Calgary.

The 35-year-old forward has 12 goals and 41 points in 60 games, putting him on track for 56 points over the full 82-game season.
Kadri spent three seasons in Colorado (2019–2022), peaking with a career-high 87 points in 71 games during the 2021-22 season. Kadri's "hard-nosed" style is tailor-made for the postseason, where he has recorded 44 career points in 52 games.
The Flames (24-30-7) continue a significant roster overhaul that has seen MacKenzie Weegar, Rasmus Andersson, and Nazem Kadri depart this season. By securing another first and second-round pick, the Flames now hold nine picks in the first three rounds of the next two drafts
