The Minnesota Wild have acquired towering center Michael McCarron from the Nashville Predators in exchange for a 2028 second-round draft pick.

For Minnesota, the acquisition of the 6-foot-6, 232-pound McCarron is a targeted move to address size and face-off struggles ahead of the postseason. McCarron led the Predators with a career-high 165 hits this season and ranked 17th in the NHL in that category at the time of the trade.

Guerin, who served as GM for Team USA's gold-medal win at the 2026 Winter Olympics, previously had McCarron on the 2025 World Championship roster where the U.S. also took home gold

Nashville GM Barry Trotz continues to stockpile future assets as the Predators retool. By flipping a fourth-line center for a second-round pick, Nashville now owns eight selections in the 2028 NHL Draft.

The Wild (36-16-10) currently sit third in the Central Division and are expected to have McCarron in the lineup as early as Friday when they travel to face the Vegas Golden Knights.
