The Nashville Predators continued to stay busy Tuesday, trading Cole Smith to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Christoffer Sedoff and a 2028 third-round pick.

The move was finalized just hours after Nashville sent Michael McCarron to Minnesota, signaling a clear "sell" phase for the Predators' bottom-six grit.

Smith leaves Nashville ranking second on the team with 119 hits this season. Since 2022, his 715 hits rank 13th among all NHL forwards. Smith logged an average of 2:19 per game on the penalty kill for Nashville, a metric that ranks second among their forwards.

In a bizarre moment on Tuesday, Smith skated just one three-second shift against Columbus before being pulled from the game as the trade was finalized. Smith reunites with former Predators teammate Colton Sissons, who was acquired by Vegas earlier this season.

Meanwhile, Sedoff, an undrafted free agent signing by Vegas in 2023, has recorded four assists in 38 games with the Henderson Silver Knights (AHL) this season. He is viewed as a mobile, puck-moving project with top-four upside if his skating continues to improve.

Nashville now holds nine picks in the 2028 draft, including two in each of the second and third rounds.
