Stars to host Golden Knights in 2027 Stadium Series

On Thursday, the NHL announced that the Dallas Stars will host the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2027 NHL Stadium Series.

The highly anticipated outdoor matchup is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 20, 2027, at AT&T Stadium, the iconic home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

This will mark the second time Dallas has played in an outdoor game, and the second time the franchise has hosted one. The Stars beat the Nashville Predators in the Cotton Bowl in the 2020 Winter Classic. "Hosting the NHL Stadium Series is another example of the vision we’ve always had for what AT&T Stadium could be beyond football," said Dallas Cowboys Owner and GM Jerry Jones. 

The Golden Knights will participate in their third outdoor game. After losing to the Colorado Avalanche at Lake Tahoe in February 2021, Vegas was shut out by the Joey D’Accord and the Seattle Kraken in the 2024 Winter Classic.

This matchup is poised to be an intriguing clash between two teams that have become bitter rivals through a series of high-stakes playoff battles over the last six years. The Stars eliminated the Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final in 2020, Vegas would beat the Stars three years later, en route to their first Stanley Cup. Dallas would then beat the Golden Knights in a thrilling seven-game series in the first round in 2024.

While this will be the first hockey game ever played at AT&T Stadium, the venue, "Jerry World" has a legendary track record of hosting the world’s most iconic sporting and entertainment events, including Super Bowl XLV in 2011, the 2015 College Football National Championship, the 2014 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four, several international soccer matches, and two WWE Wrestlemanias.
