New York Islanders Acquire Carson Soucy

The New York Islanders acquired defenseman Carson Soucy from the New York Rangers on Monday evening in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.

Soucy, 31, has recorded three goals and five assists for eight points in 46 games this season while averaging 17:13 of ice time. The 6-foot-5 veteran is in the final season of a three-year, $9.75 million contract he signed with the Vancouver Canucks in 2023. The deal carries a $3.25 million cap hit and included a 12-team no-trade list, which Soucy waived to facilitate the move across town.

The trade comes as the two franchises head in opposite directions. The Islanders (28-19-5) currently sit third in the Metropolitan Division and are looking to bolster a blue line missing key regulars Alexander Romanov and Ryan Pulock. Meanwhile, the Rangers (22-25-6) are last in the Eastern Conference.
